Iconic Name, Modern Performance
The 2026 Honda Prelude is back, marking the return of a legendary nameplate for American enthusiasts. Unveiled in Torrance, California, the new Prelude honors its performance heritage while embracing a hybrid-electric future. Under the hood, the all-new Prelude pairs Honda’s two-motor hybrid-electric system with the advanced chassis hardware of the Civic Type R—offering a unique blend of efficiency and true driving excitement.
Hybrid Power Meets Type R Engineering
For the first time, the Prelude features a powerful hybrid setup that combines a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, producing a combined 200 horsepower and up to 232 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel-drive coupe delivers precise, agile handling thanks to its Civic Type R-derived dual-axis strut front suspension, Brembo four-piston front brakes, and adaptive damper system. The Prelude also introduces the Honda S+ Shift mode, using paddle shifters to simulate performance gear changes and create an engaging, driver-focused experience.
Grand Touring Comfort with Advanced Tech
Inside, the Prelude offers an upscale, grand touring environment, featuring heated, leather-trimmed sport seats with houndstooth accents, a digital instrument cluster, and a 9-inch HD touchscreen with Google built-in. Standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Bose premium sound system, and a suite of driver-assistance features from the Honda Sensing® package. The 2+2 seating configuration, fold-down rear seats, and substantial cargo capacity make the coupe practical, as well as sporty.
Distinctive and Aerodynamic Design
A sleek silhouette, aggressive stance, and bold five-color palette—including the new Winter Frost Pearl—give the Prelude modern curb appeal. Aerodynamic enhancements, like a low nose, flush door handles, and “double-bubble” roof, balance form and function by adding stability at high speed. Details like black chrome accents and Prelude Blue Brembo calipers reinforce its performance credentials.
Safety and Electrified Strategy
Every 2026 Prelude comes loaded with the latest safety tech, including collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and next-generation airbag systems. The car expands Honda’s growing hybrid lineup and is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in late fall 2025, reinforcing Honda’s commitment to both driving joy and electrification.
