Ford Motor Company has unveiled its new World Headquarters, redefining the work experience for its 4,000 employees and symbolizing a new era in automotive innovation and collaboration.
Spanning 2.1 million square feet, the facility is not only double the size of the former “Glass House,” but it features cutting-edge design elements, state-of-the-art technology, and a focus on durability and adaptability.
Immersive Ford Brand Experience in the Lobbies
Upon entering, employees and visitors are immediately immersed in the Ford brand through curated use of color, materials, and historic design touches. Public and employee lobbies feature unique art installations, such as Model T to Mustang Mach-E color swatches and Bronco Raptor components adorning the walls, creating a tangible link to Ford’s heritage and future vision.
Showrooms and Review Spaces Promote Innovation
At the heart of the building are showrooms designed for comprehensive product reviews. The main showroom, flanked by a Colors and Materials Showroom and a Digital Showroom, utilizes turntables, mobile walls, and a massive micro-LED display to showcase prototypes in any light, at any time of day or night. These spaces, connected to the Savannah Courtyard with additional turntables, allow Ford leaders and design teams to conduct full-scale product evaluations in an environment flooded with natural and simulated lighting.
Flexible Studios Foster Collaborative Design
Six identical design studios, equipped for everything from clay modeling to final prototype review, are strategically located on upper floors to maximize efficiency and foster teamwork. Each studio aligns with customer-centric “Build, Thrill, and Adventure” profiles and is supported by a dedicated fabrication milling shop where rough and fine modeling come together under one roof.
Dining and Collaboration Spaces Power Teamwork
The new headquarters features Gallery Hall, a vibrant dining area with seven diverse food options, as well as a café for coffee and pastries. Special seating zones, learning stairs, and open-concept library spaces are seamlessly integrated, creating multiple venues for informal meetings, team huddles, and creative collaboration.
Advanced Energy Rooms and Smart Window Design
Energy Rooms, equipped to host full-size vehicles and wrapped in corkboard for hands-on reviews, illustrate Ford’s commitment to flexible and purpose-driven meeting spaces. Meanwhile, exterior windows are etched with patent numbers from Ford’s storied history, providing a functional nod to innovation while helping to control privacy and ambient temperature.
Vertical Design and Efficiency for the Next Generation
Building vertically, with extra-thick concrete floors and industrial-grade freight elevators, the headquarters enables the efficient movement of both people and vehicles, reducing internal transit times by up to 80% compared to the old Product Development Center. Ford’s new world headquarters sets a standard for adaptable, innovative workspaces, supporting a culture where design, engineering, and brand come together like never before.
