The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB is setting new standards for comfort and luxury, even in the harshest winter conditions.
Rigorously tested at the Mercedes Technology Center in Sindelfingen, Germany, the GLB proved its ability to deliver a genuine “Welcome Home” feeling, regardless of outside temperatures.
Simulated arctic conditions in state-of-the-art wind tunnels exposed the SUV to temperatures as low as -40°C, snow cannons, and winds up to 200 km/h, ensuring every detail holds up under pressure.
Fast-Acting Climate Control and Efficient Heating
Mercedes engineers have outfitted the GLB with a completely new climate system, which outperforms previous generations in both speed and efficiency. During tests, the cabin warmed twice as fast as its predecessor at -7°C, requiring only half the energy thanks to a new heat pump inspired by the Vision EQXX concept. Even the windshield is a showcase of smart engineering: it can be completely defrosted within 15 minutes at -15°C without activating the wipers. The system’s efficiency helps optimize overall EV range, making the GLB both practical and comfortable in any climate.
Interior: Luxury Meets Flexibility
Inside, the GLB continues the Mercedes legacy of refined design and high-end features. The SUV is available in five- and seven-seat configurations, with more headroom and an improved Easy-Entry function for the optional third-row. The panoramic roof features an advanced infrared-reflecting and electronically adjustable glass panel, which can shift between transparent and opaque states in milliseconds. An optional illuminated star pattern ceiling and ambient lighting reinforce the vehicle’s cozy, inviting atmosphere—turning every drive into a luxury experience, even in the depths of winter.
Next-Generation Digital Innovations
The all-new GLB debuts the Mercedes-Benz MBUX Superscreen, a triple-screen setup blending digital instrument clusters with expansive infotainment real estate. Designed for both families and tech-savvy adventurers, this system keeps drivers informed and passengers entertained at every stage of the journey. Alongside upscale materials and advanced driver assistance systems, the GLB presents itself as a segment leader ready for a variety of lifestyles and environments.
Setting a New Standard for Winter Driving
With its unique blend of advanced technology, luxurious features, and resilient engineering, the new Mercedes-Benz GLB demonstrates that comfort and capability don’t have to stop when the temperature drops. The model is set to launch publicly in December and aims to redefine what drivers can expect from a premium compact SUV in every season.
