Volvo Trucks has reinforced its position at the top of the European heavy-duty truck market, securing the number one spot for the second year in a row. In 2025, the company achieved a 19.0% market share in Europe for trucks of 16 tonnes and above, an increase from 17.9% in 2024. This growth underscores Volvo’s strong performance in key markets such as the UK, France, Poland, Germany and Lithuania, where registrations of Volvo trucks remained particularly strong.

FH Aero Powers Long-Distance Success

At the heart of Volvo’s success is the FH Aero, the company’s flagship long-distance truck that has quickly become a favorite among European haulers. Designed with improved aerodynamics and equipped with advanced technologies like Volvo’s digital camera mirrors, the FH Aero can deliver up to 7% better fuel efficiency compared with the regular Volvo FH it replaces. In 2025 alone, nearly 33,000 FH Aero trucks were ordered across Europe, reflecting strong demand for efficient long-haul transport solutions.

Customer Trust and Product Performance

Volvo Trucks attributes its continued leadership to a combination of customer confidence and a high-performance product portfolio. President Roger Alm emphasizes that being market leader for a second consecutive year is a clear sign of the trust customers place in the brand and its services. He highlights that Volvo’s trucks offer superior uptime, fuel efficiency and safety, with the FH Aero described as the “shining star” for longer distances, delivering impressive performance and fuel savings in real-world operations.

Strong Global Footprint in 30 Countries

Beyond Europe, Volvo Trucks maintains a powerful presence in global markets. In 2025, the company holds either the leading position or ranks as the second-largest truck brand in 30 countries worldwide. This broad footprint illustrates Volvo’s competitiveness in diverse transport environments and its ability to meet the needs of fleets operating under different regulatory, economic and logistical conditions.

Driving the Transition to Fossil-Free Transport

Volvo Trucks is coupling its market success with a strong commitment to decarbonizing road transport. The company is targeting net-zero emissions by 2040 and is pursuing a three-path technology strategy to reach that goal. This approach includes battery-electric trucks, fuel cell electric vehicles, and combustion engines optimized to run on renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, biodiesel and HVO. Roger Alm notes that Volvo will continue to innovate and launch new trucks that support customers’ business performance while accelerating the shift toward fossil-free transport, offering tailored solutions for different markets and operational needs.
