The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 may have been designed to work, tow, and tackle tough terrain, but the Black Widow SR takes the full-size pickup in an entirely different direction. Built by Fox Factory, this lowered street truck can pack a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 675 horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque, backed by serious suspension upgrades, massive 22-inch wheels, and an unmistakably aggressive stance.
A Silverado Built for the Street
American performance trucks have traditionally followed two very different paths. Some are designed to go faster across dirt, sand, and rough terrain, while others take the classic muscle-car formula and apply it to a pickup.
The Chevrolet Silverado Black Widow SR belongs firmly in the second category.
Instead of giving the Silverado a towering suspension lift and oversized off-road tires, Fox Factory has brought the truck closer to the pavement. The result is a wide, low-slung Silverado that looks like a modern interpretation of the classic American street truck.
And while the visual transformation is significant, the biggest changes go well beyond appearance.
Up to 675 Horsepower From a Supercharged V8
The Black Widow SR can be based around Chevrolet’s familiar 5.3-liter V8, which produces 355 horsepower in standard form. Buyers looking for considerably more muscle can step up to the 6.2-liter V8 configuration.
Fox Factory offers the larger engine with a 3.0-liter supercharger, increasing output to 675 horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque.
It’s an appropriately old-school approach for a street-focused American pickup: large displacement, eight cylinders, and forced induction rather than an electrified powertrain.
Fox Factory Didn’t Lift It — It Lowered It
The suspension is arguably just as important as the engine.
Rather than building another off-road Silverado, Fox Factory equipped the Black Widow SR with a modified Ridetech suspension system that significantly lowers the truck.
The front sits approximately 3 inches lower, while the rear drops by roughly 5.5 inches, dramatically changing the Silverado’s proportions.
Additional suspension components include upgraded control arms and traction bars intended to improve stability and help control wheel hop under hard acceleration.
This isn’t a truck primarily designed to crawl over rocks or blast across desert trails. The Black Widow SR is intended to perform on pavement.
Massive 22-Inch Wheels Complete the Look
The lowered suspension is paired with 22-inch Black Widow wheels wrapped in 305/40 performance-oriented tires, giving the Silverado a wider and more planted appearance than the standard truck.
Fox Factory also adds a collection of exterior upgrades to distinguish the SR from a regular Silverado 1500.
The package includes widened fender flares, a distinctive grille treatment, hood vents, a sportier rear spoiler, performance exhaust components, and Black Widow branding throughout the vehicle.
The finished truck remains unmistakably a Silverado, but its stance is much closer to a traditional American street truck than an off-road build.
Brembo Brakes Are Available
More power and additional street performance also create a need for stronger braking capability.
Fox Factory therefore offers an upgraded Brembo braking system, reportedly priced at nearly $4,900.
The supercharger package represents an even larger investment, with the 3.0-liter system for the 6.2-liter V8 adding roughly $16,900.
Those options can quickly move the Black Widow SR far beyond the price of a conventional Silverado 1500.
The Interior Gets the Black Widow Treatment Too
The modifications continue inside the cabin.
Depending on specification, buyers get distinctive diamond-pattern leather upholstery, embroidered Black Widow logos, and spider-themed design details throughout the interior.
Fox Factory doesn’t completely reinvent Chevrolet’s cabin. Instead, the upgrades give the truck enough individual character to make it feel like a complete conversion rather than a Silverado fitted with a collection of unrelated aftermarket parts.
It Can Still Do Real Truck Work
Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of the Black Widow SR is that its transformation doesn’t eliminate the Silverado’s usefulness as a truck.
Depending on configuration, the Silverado platform can retain a maximum towing capacity of approximately 13,300 pounds and payload capability approaching 1,980 pounds.
That distinction matters.
Despite its street-focused setup, the Black Widow SR can still provide much of the functionality buyers expect from a full-size pickup. That means towing a substantial trailer or carrying cargo remains part of the equation rather than becoming an afterthought.
How Much Does the Black Widow SR Cost?
The Black Widow SR starts at roughly $85,000, although that figure doesn’t represent a fully equipped version.
Add the supercharger, Brembo brakes, premium paint, a powered bed cover, and other options, and pricing can climb beyond $126,000.
That’s serious money for a Silverado, but buyers aren’t simply paying for individual aftermarket components.
One advantage of the Fox Factory approach is that the Black Widow SR is offered as a complete professionally converted vehicle rather than a pickup assembled piece by piece from aftermarket parts.
The truck can also be serviced through Chevrolet dealerships and comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, adding an important degree of reassurance considering the extent of the modifications.
A Modern Take on the Classic American Street Truck
The Black Widow SR represents an interesting alternative in today’s increasingly off-road-focused performance truck market.
Instead of chasing additional ground clearance, suspension travel, and ever-larger all-terrain tires, Fox Factory has revived a much simpler formula: lower the truck, give it wide rubber, sharpen its road manners, and add substantially more power.
That approach gives the Silverado a character rarely seen among today’s factory-inspired performance pickups.
It also preserves something important: usability. There is still a full-size pickup underneath the modifications, complete with a bed and substantial towing capability.
For enthusiasts who want the practicality and presence of a Silverado but prefer pavement over desert trails, the Black Widow SR offers a distinctly American interpretation of the modern street truck.
